During my college career, I wrote dozens of different stories for the Daily Universe, a college newspaper run from Brigham Young University. While many of my stories have been published, here are a few of the best.

Abigail Westerby, my partner, wrote the article, but both of us created the documentary linked on the page.

BYU interns in Krakow, Poland assisted the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial in their preservation of the identities of those who lost their lives at Auschwitz.

The memorial is strongly dedicated to recovering and preserving the names and records of those who were murdered in the German concentration and extermination camp. This ongoing project features a database that contains the names, photographs and records of those former prisoners of Auschwitz.

President Nelson.jpeg

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints turns 99 years old on Sept. 9, 2023. Since becoming the leader of the Church in 2018, President Nelson ushered in an era of change, building upon principles espoused over the course of his life.

According to President Nelson, he did not grow up in a gospel-centered home. All eight of his grandparents joined the Church in Europe and immigrated to the U.S. His parents taught them important life lessons, yet did not focus their home life on Jesus Christ. President Nelson sought out the Gospel of Jesus Christ on his own and was baptized when he was 16 years old.

As a new semester dawns and incoming freshman open their textbooks, many might be surprised to discover a new language. While their textbooks may be in English, the language before them is riddled with strange, unnatural phrases that baffle the mind. Instead of clear and concise descriptions, these textbooks and readings are filled with jargon and complicated phrases.

How many students have stared at the first page of their assigned reading, their minds refusing to understand the words printed before them? How many have read the same sentence over and over again, desperately trying to pull any meaning from the language at all? This situation is often made fun of, because we have all been there. We all know what it is like to study a piece of literature and not understand what it means.
